Iconic Cullen Bay Hotel hits the market for offers over £1.1 million as owners announce retirement
A POPULAR 100-year-old Moray hotel has been listed for sale for offers of over £1.1 million after its owners announced their retirement.
The Cullen Bay Hotel, established in 1924 and based in the seaside town of Cullen on the Moray Firth, is a 14-bedroom hotel set within two acres of land.
The hotel itself is located a short distance from Cullen and offers panoramic views of the sea and the town’s golf course.
Ian and Rena Watson have owned the hotel for 12 years having successfully operated the establishment over that time.
The pair also refurbished and upgraded the historic property during their time in charge.
Reflecting on their decision to sell the hotel, they said: “This year, the centenary of the iconic Cullen Bay Hotel, we have decided to retire after 12 years owning the hotel.
“For sure we will miss all our customers and colleagues, the dolphin displays and the amazing northern lights spectacular shows.
“However, it will be great to return as a customer for a change and see the next phase in the development of the hotel and grounds.”
Katie Tait, of Graham and Sibbald, the property consultants handling the sale, said: “The availability of the Cullen Bay Hotel presents a wonderful opportunity to purchase a long established, incredibly popular, impressive hotel business situated in one of the most picturesque locations on the north east coast of Scotland.
“This is truly a fantastic opportunity.”
The hotel features a walled garden to its rear with space for a marquee which could host up to 250 guests.
There is also space for 60 cars as well as a beer garden and children’s play area.
In the hotel, there is a three-bedroom apartment with a lounge and bathroom for the new owners to live in.
But it also features a reception area with office facilities, breakfast room, lounge, restaurants, bar and a function room with space for 15 seated guests.
Each of the establishment’s 14 bedrooms, which can accommodate 32 people in total, are ensuite.
