Christmas is coming in Huntly as Rotary Club unveils its festive plans

HUNTLY Rotary Club launches its festive programme this weekend.

The popular Santa Run tour of the town and nearby villages, suspended last year due to Covis returns.

Over the course of almost a week, a sleigh with Santa on board will tour the town with Rotarians and volunteers collecting donations for local, national and international charities.

But volunteers are urgently needed to help on Saturday night when the tour will take in Cairnie, Ruthven and Rothiemay.

On Sunday Rhynie, Kennethmont, Clatt and Gartly will be visited from later afternoon.

The Rotary Santa team are in huntly on week nights.

Monday is in the area of Deveron Park, Rowan Avenue, and onwards to Duke Street.

Tuesday’s destinations take in the areas around Scott Drive, Deveron Street, Meadow Street, Chapel Street.

On Wednesday they will visit the neighbourhoods around West Park Street, Farquhar Road, Lennox Terrace, and East Park Street.

On Thursday the Santa team will be around Gordon Street, Nelson Street, Tory Street, King Street, Depot Road and Craighead Drive

Friday’s final outing will take in King George V Avenue, Church Street, Gladstone Road, Glamourhaugh Avenue, and Bleachfield Street.

Next Saturday between 10am and 12pm Santa will be at Asda and from 2pm to 4pm at Tesco.

Rotarians erected the Christmas Tree in The Square last Sunday and on Sunday, December 19, will host a visit from the Cairngorm Reindeer.

The team of reindeer pulling Santa in his sleigh are due in The Square around 4pm.

During the event the Citizen of the Year 2021 will be announced.

Various stalls will be serving food and refreshments throughout the afternoon.

Music and lighting will be provided by Standing Ovation and the Aurora Choir will perform.
