Horse champions are crowned at Turriff Show
Turriff Show crowned its overall horse champions on a busy Sunday at Scotland's biggest two-day agricultural showcase.
Thousands attended as the event was blessed with warm sunshine and avoided the rain showers that have been so common this summer.
The horses took centre stage in the main show ring with the overall titles presented to the winners.
The in-hand championship was won by Highland pony stallion Ben Macdui of Strathavon owned by John Reid who is based at Hillside of Foudland Colpy near Insch.
He said of the victory: "The horse is five years old and this is his first show this year.
"I am absolutely delighted that he has won the overall in-hand championship.
"He was a previous reserve winner at Turriff Show as a yearling and was also reserve champion at Keith Show as a yearling.
"Tarland Show is the next event he will be entered into and hopefully he does well there also.
"It's great that he has managed to win the championship at Turriff."
The reserve champion title was won by small breed mountain and moorland pony Goldenwood Georgie Girl owned by Lynneann Cameron and Alison Walker of Laurencekirk.
The ridden championship was won by working hunters, horses and ponies gelding Meiklekims Dizzee Rascal owned by Tessa Hourston from St Cyrus and ridden by her daughter Sophie.
Tessa said: "It is fantastic to win the championship at Turriff Show.
"His stable name is Bob and he was section champion at the Angus Show and has been the winner at a few other horse events.
"They have some other shows coming up and they also qualified for the Blair Castle International Horse Trials."
Sophie said: "The horse is six years old and he has not won anything this big.
"He has won a few championships this year across Scotland but no overall winners.
"This is the last agricultural show and we will also have the Caledonian Showing Championships at the end of the year.
"I'm so happy that we have won the championship at Turriff."
The reserve winner went to the small breed mountain and moorland pony Shamrock Lake Wack Up Call owned by Helen Lambert-Fraser of Crathie.
Monday's focus at Turriff Show switches to the livestock judging which includes two national competitions in the Aberdeen-Angus cattle and the Scottish Ryeland sheep.
