Ben and Max who live in London with their parents, are spending a two weeks holiday at their grandparents Kit and Tom Pawson's house in Inverurie and always jump at the chance to come up to Scotland.

The boys who enjoy doing lots of outdoor sport and activities have this time decided to do their bit for the local community and tidy up the council owned garden at the bottom of Cunninghill Road in the town.

Usually the garden is very well looked after but due to Covid-19 council staff have not been able to give the area its due attention.

Weather permitting, over the next two weeks the boys intend to remove the unsightly rubbish, take out the dozens of weeds, dead head the roses and try to bring the garden back to its former glory.

Ben and Max said: “When we have been up staying with our grandparents in the past, we always noticed how neat and tidy the garden was, plus all the colourful plants.

“Now it is a mess.

“We do enjoy helping out in the community for example we have supported Barnardo's children's charity over many years.”

“We are doing all the work by ourselves and we shall try to bring it back to the council standard but we are very amateur gardeners - we are only really weed pullers.”

Grandparent Kit also commented on the boys efforts to help tidy up the garden: “Tom and I are enormously proud of the boys' efforts.

“It is important for them to be doing volunteer work for the community.”
