The former council property is now run by the Turriff and District Heritage Society and utilises their extensive collection of objects to look at aspects of both the town's history and the wider historical context of the area.

Several outstanding displays include the full layout of the former Town Council's chamber which forms a central exhibition on the provosts of Turriff over the year and even includes the ceremonial trowel presented when work started on the building that houses the museum at present.

Several artworks including items from the Argyll collection adorn the walls illustrating locals of note, none less so than Letter Jeannie the first postmistress, whose portrait was removed to the head office in Edinburgh and sparked parliamentary questions on the matter, before being found a new home back in Turriff.

With the recent focus on Doric language making the headlines as Aberdeen University looks to offer its first course in the dialect, the museum also house the Doric Neuk a resource centre for speakers and learners alike.

The museum is now open again Wednesday to Saturdays from 11am till 3pm with the separate Session Cottage Museum located next to the Market Cross open on Thursdays from 11am till 3pm.
