Holiday adventures at Haddo House

The half term holiday in Aberdeenshire offers some new and unique experiences for visitors off all ages at Haddo House.

On Saturday, February 15 visitors can come and play with light in some rarely accessed nooks and crannies of the historic venue.

You can explore how different lighting can dramatically change the atmosphere and help tell stories.

A 45-minute workshop follows the tour of the house which take place at noon and 3pm and will be suitable for all ages.

This is a special one-off day of workshops, part of the National Trust for Scotland’s Experiencing Collections project so don’t miss out!

Victorian tours and lighting workshops are suitable for all ages.

Tickets: adult £7.50, child £5 (accompanying adult goes free)

For those that want to explore the house the Book of Curiosity lets visitors see inside the servants rooms and family bedrooms while trying one of the many activities, and win a prize to take home as a memory of your day.

You can become one of the little detectives and find all the secret objects and animals, complete the Book of Curiosity, go on a rhyme treasure hunt and find who’s hiding in the house, or choose the pest quest and discover what bugs live in Haddo.

These activities are available from Saturday, February 15 until Wednesday 19.

Tours take place at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm with tickets priced at: child, £7.50, family up to four children, £20 (adults go free).

Haddo Treasure Hunt in Rhyme lets little one find out who is hiding in the house.

Available from Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 at 11.30 am, 12.30 pm, 1.30 pm, 2.30 pm with tickets priced at: child, £7.50, family up to four children, £20 (adults go free).

Available from on Wednesday 19, Pest Quest walk around Haddo will explore the dining room, bedrooms, servants staircase, library, morning rooms, and participants can see if you can help the collection care team finding all the bugs that are pestering Haddo.

Look carefully and learn what bugs love to feast on the most.

Play word search, find answers, draw sketches of the bugs you saw and at the end you will receive a wee treat to take home.
