Portsoy groups set for St Andrew’s Day celebration





Two community groups have joined forces to celebrate St Andrew’s Day in traditional style.

Folk at the Salmon Bothy and Portsoy 75 Club are hosting a St Andrew’s Day Hoolie at Portsoy Bowling Club on Saturday, November 30.

The Kenny McKenzie All Star Ceilidh Band will entertain.

Entertainment on the night will include a ceilidh with the Kenny McKenzie All Star Ceilidh Band, as well as Scots songs from Moira Stewart, Doug Hay and various floor performers.

Stovies and vegetable pasta will be served during the evening courtesy of sponsorship from Auntie Meg’s Kitchen in Whitehills and Gaulds Fruit and Veg in Sandend.

Tickets for the event are priced at £15 each and are available from Bob Philips by emailing bobportsoy@gmail.com, or by calling 07968872217.

Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. All are welcome, over 18s only and booking is essential.

All funds raised will go towards Folk at the Salmon Bothy’s 15th Haal to be held from May 30 – June 1, 2025, and community organisations and projects supported by Portsoy 75 Club.
