Westminster MP for Gordon, Richard Thomson has highlighted the British Heart Foundation (BHF)’s campaign to ensure that unregistered defibrillators are added to The Circuit.

The Circuit – the national defibrillator network - provides a national overview of where defibrillators can be found for easy access in emergencies.

At the moment, many defibrillators never get used because emergency services don’t know where they are or how to access them.

This can cost lives and that’s why this new infrastructure is so vital.

Commenting, Mr Thomson said: “Less than one in ten people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

"But thousands of defibrillators still aren’t registered with emergency services.

“Many of these defibrillators will, very often, have been bought and installed as a result of fundraising by public-spirited organisations or individuals, thus providing a real asset to their local communities.

“It’s therefore very important to ensure all defibrillators are registered and I am pleased to support BHF’s call for guardians to register their defibrillators on The Circuit – National Defibrillator Network.”

At the heart of the constituency in Inverurie, the latest public access defibrillator was installed outside the Inverurie Loco Works ground on the wall of the main building facing the car park - to ensure that it is accessible 24/7.

This was thanks to the generous support from Inverurie Loco Works FC Supporters Group, Colony Park Football Club and Inverurie Loco Works FC to provide a defibrillator which will be accessible and will cover both Locos and Colony Park pitches as well as the rest of the community.
