Garioch Gymnastics Club welcomed representatives from the sport's national organisation to see its new facilities.

The group opened the doors to its new building at Craigearn Business Park, Morrison Way, Kintore, in February 2020 but had to close shortly after due to the pandemic.

The club had planned to hold a large open day but with restrictions having been in place almost ever since, it decided to cancel this event.

However, it was keen to show the new facilities to Scottish Gymnastics and to people in the community who had assisted it along the way.

Gymnasts of all ages also showed the skills they are working on in their training.

Club manager Janine Robertson said: "We were aware that representatives of Scottish Gymnastics had never seen the facility and therefore we invited them up on Sunday to meet some of our staff and gymnasts with some lunch provided.

"We welcomed the CEO of Scottish Gymnastics Doc McKelvey and chairman of the board Brian Ewing.

"Also in attendance were some of the club's contracted staff, our trustees Gary and Adele Tolometti, Alastair Robertson, Trish Swan, Cathy Osborne and myself.

"We invited Darroch Robertson from our surveyors Graham and Sibbald, who were key in finding and securing the venue; our architect Mike Grattidge of Portico Designs and our landlord Terry Clark, who had seen the building halfway through transformation and was amazed to see it now.

"I believe all were very impressed with the facility we are providing to our local community and the standard, enthusiasm and hard work shown by the gymnasts training.

"Thanks must go to Michelle Clark of Kemnay Farm Shop for supplying the food. Michelle is a parent of one of our former gymnasts."

In early September the club held a barbecue as a thank you to its staff, their families, some parents, joiner Matthew Mottershead of MJM Joinery, Scott Crabb of Crabb Electrical and Bob Foy of R&M Leisure.
