Fundraiser for two teenage footballers seriously injured in Macduff car accident raises £7500
A fundraiser has been set up in support of two Banffshire football players who were seriously injured in a car accident.
Deveronside goalkeeper Adam Golebiewski, 17, and Curtis West, 18, who plays for fellow north junior club Whitehills, were involved in a one-vehicle crash on Macduff’s Union Road on September 8.
Two other teenagers were also in the car when it was involved in an accident in the early hours of a Sunday morning.
As a result of the accident, Adam had to have both of his lower legs amputated, and Curtis needed surgery on a back injury.
in support of both teenagers, local woman Angela Quinn set up a gofundme page aimed at raising £10,000, which is three-quarters of the way towards meeting its target.
“Unfortunately Adam has lost both his lower legs and Curtis has had an operation on his back,” Angela said.
“Both boys are apprentices with a local building company and will be out of work for some time. Adam will require adjustments to be made to his house and I am just looking for some donations to help these boys and their family.
“Adam’s parents are both having to take time off work at the moment plus the costs of travelling in and out to hospital to support their son so they are all going to have minimal income.
“I know they are overwhelmed with the support they have been shown in the last week but I just want to show them that the local community are thinking of them.”
Angela added that other fundraising events for the two teenagers and their families were being planned for the future.
