Kirsty’s Klub is a free support group which provides therapeutic massage therapies for cancer patients and a community café.

The free clinic and café first opened its doors in June 2023 after being founded by Kirsty Wales.

Kirsty’s goal was to support cancer patients while fostering community connections through free services and a welcoming space.

Over the past year, it has provided a range of complementary massage therapies and support.

The therapies aim to help patients manage their pain, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve their overall wellbeing and quality of life during and after treatment.

“Being diagnosed with cancer is an incredibly difficult experience, both physically and emotionally,” Kirsty said.

“I started this free service to let these brave individuals know their community is here to support them every step of the way with nurturing, therapeutic care.”

In addition to the clinic, the adjoining community café has served as a gathering place where anyone can come for a hot drink, snack, and friendly conversation in a cozy, inviting environment.

To date, the café has welcomed over 150 visitors and has hosted events such as chair yoga for those recovering from cancer.

“The café was created to be a true community hub – a place for connection, learning, sharing, and simply being among others,” Kirsty added.

“I’m overjoyed at how it has brought so many people together this past year.”

One of Kirsty’s clients has praised the “amazing” team for their support.

They said: “This is my second visit to Kirsty’s Klub and I have had two sessions of scar massage.

“Scar massage is very beneficial and it’s great to have this service offered free of charge.

“Kirsty and her team of volunteers are amazing to provide this service.

“It is a friendly space to come and have a chat, coffee and delicious soup.”

Kirsty’s Klub, located at The Foggie Neuk, Aberchirder, Huntly, AB54 7SY, runs on the last Saturday of every month. All are welcome to stop by.
