Troup councillor Mark Findlater joins Reform UK
A councillor who resigned from the Scottish Conservatives has joined Reform UK.
Troup representative Mark Findlater, a former leader of Aberdeenshire Council, left the Tories recently and is now one of two councillors from the region to join Nigel Farage’s party.
Mearns councillor Laurie Carnie also resigned from the Scottish Conservatives and has joined Reform UK.
It makes them the party's only representation in Scotland.
This comes after Mr Farage wrote to all Conservative councillors in the UK calling on them to join Reform.
A councillor in Essex, Jaymey McIvor, has also made the move.
A spokesperson for Reform UK said: “In less than 24 hours we have seen three councillors join Reform, leaving the Tory party.
"The latest two today just go to show that the Tory brand is broken not just in England but across the United Kingdom.
"This is just the start for Reform, we plan to campaign hard in the run up to the Holyrood election in 2026 and win seats right across Scotland.”
