Banff football club throws support behind young goalkeeper seriously injured in Macduff car crash
A football club has thrown its support behind its young goalkeeper who was seriously injured in a car crash.
Adam Golebiewski was in a one car crash which took place at Macduff’s Union Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services attended and Adam and three other teenagers were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be treated for their injuries following the collision.
Police said one of them has since been discharged from hospital, while the other three continue to be treated for serious injuries.
In a social media post Deveronside Football Club said: “After Saturday’s win at Nairn, and his own fantastic performance, our young goalkeeper Adam Golebiewski was in a car accident and suffered very serious injuries.
“Everyone at the club wishes Adam well with his recovery and rehabilitation and assures him he has the full support of the club going forward.
“Take care and all the best Adam.”
Police outlined that the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3am on Sunday, September 8, 2024, officers were called to a report of a one car crash in Union Road, Macduff.
“Emergency services attended and three men aged 17, 18 and 19 and an 18-year-old woman were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
“The 18-year-old man has since been released from hospital, whilst the injuries of the others are described as serious, but not life-threatening.
"Union Road was closed in both directions while emergency services were in attendance and re-opened around 3pm.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 0609 of September 8, 2024.”
