The community of Aberchirder and the surrounding area have come together and have been busy supporting those in need through the Covid-19 crisis.

Chairperson of Aberchirder And District Community Association Brenda King explains some of the things currently being done by volunteers in the community: "Aberchirder and District Community Association have been working closely with the Pharmacy to do doorstep deliveries of medication to those in isolation.

"We have also been working with Aberdeenshire Council Housing and Care Managers through the Grampian Coronavirus (COVID-19) Assistance Hub to ensure that those in need get the support they require during this challenging time.

"Anyone can contact me in complete confidentiality on 07837926755 should they need support.

"Aberchirder and District Men Shed are working closely with the local Co-op Food to co-ordinate deliveries to residents unable to get out and do their own shopping.

"If you require a shopping delivery, you should contact the Co-op Food by calling 01466 780254 in the first instance to arrange this.

"Aberchirder SWI are operating a buddy scheme to call people on a regular basis for a chat to help alleviate loneliness and other residents are putting their sewing skills to fantastic use and are making gowns and masks for the NHS.

"The community is responding more each week to the thank you NHS clap on a Thursday evening and now we have pipers and dancers in the square too.

"Aberchirder and District Community Association thanks all volunteers for their support and to the community for all they are doing to adhere to the government regulations - stay safe everyone."
