Individual and group bulb shows have been the focus this month for north-east SWI members meetings with mini-shows taking place before groups gather for their respective groups shows.

At King Edward Linda Thom welcomed 23 members and guests to the meeting on the 15th.

The minutes of the January meeting were read and approved. Some of the business was dealt with before the main event of the evening.

The original speaker had to cancel due to ill health but had prepared a selection of sweets prior to becoming ill.

Correspondence was read out, firstly a letter from the Vice President who has sadly had to resign for personal reasons and secondly a letter from the labour ward in Aberdeen thanking all for the knitted baby hats Linda had sent to them.

It was then time to taste the sweets that Sheila had provided along with the recipes for various fudges which were enjoyed by members.

There was then three picture quizzes for members to solve which was good fun.

This was followed by the usual tasty refreshments provided this month by May Wilson and Kathleen Sivewright and the raffle was drawn.

The Competition winners were as follows -

Flower of the Month- 1 Dianne Smith; 2 Alison Milne and 3 Margaret Fraser.

Decorated hard boiled egg - 1 May Wilson; 2 Linda Thom and 3 Dianne Smith.

Four pieces hand made fudge with recipe - 1 Dianne Smith; 2 Kathleen Mustard and 3 Linda Thom.

The rest of the many items of business was then dealt with.

The Vote of Thanks was given by Mary Farquhar, to Sheila in her absence for making the sweets, to Linda for the quizzes, to the hostesses, to Linda for presiding over the meeting with her usual efficiency and to all who came along to support us.

The next meeting is the AGM on Wednesday, April 19.

At Bourtie SWI Margaret A Green welcomed members to the annual Bulb Show and Alice Sinclair, Oldmeldrum who was judge for the Show.

After tea, provided by Margaret A Green, she thanked Alice for her work and helpful comments.

Members then discussed arrangements for Inverurie Bulb Show and final plans made.

Last weekend also saw the annual hosting of the Ellon Group Show

A covering of snow over night didn't deter members arriving with their entries at the Victoria Hall Ellon where the Inverurie Group members judged the show and Group President Moyra MacInnes presented the trophies.

The inter institute competition theme was a musical with some lovely work from the institutes.
