Buckie firefighters get ready to hit the road in aid of charity
Buckie’s retained firefighters are gearing up to help give good causes a festive boost.
A suitably decorated fire engine from the station will be taking on a new role as transport for Santa and some of his elves in a bid to raise cash for good causes.
In addition to Buckie itself, the Man in Red and his gang will be taking their collection buckets around the streets of Findochty, Portessie and Portgordon.
Last year saw the firefighters smash their street collection fundraising record, with local communities digging deep to raise an amazing £8209. This beat the previous best of £7331.68 set during Christmas 2021.
Each evening’s collection run is scheduled to get under way at 6.30pm.
Santa and the Elves’ itinerary is: Tuesday, December 10 - Portgordon; Wednesday, December 11 - Netherha Road/Letterfourie area; Thursday, December 12 - Barhill Road/Buckpool area; Friday, December 13 - Alba Road area/Seatown/East and West Church Street; Tuesday, December 17 - Findochty; Wednesday, December 18 - Portessie and Rathven; Thursday, December 19 - Harbour Street/Milton Drive areas; Friday, December 20 - High Street/Whispering Meadows/Tesco area.
While doing the street collections the firefighters remain on call so some runs may have to be postponed or rescheduled should operational matters dictate.
