Keith care homes gear up for special Pride event to promote diversity and inclusion
Care homes in a Moray town will this weekend host a special Pride event celebrating inclusion, diversity and community.
The celebration, taking place at Longmore Community Hall in Keith on Saturday, October 18, is part of Parklands Pride, an annual initiative launched in 2023 that has quickly become a highlight for residents, families and staff across Parklands’ care homes.
The afternoon’s line-up includes performances from local musician Gordon Strathdee, singer Sugar Browne, drag performer Miss Idah, and the Heart Strings Choir, made up of residents and staff from Speyside and Glenisla care homes.
The afternoon will round off with a Pride-themed disco.
The event has been organised jointly by Glenisla and Weston View care homes as part of their Keith Cares Club, and is being held in aid of mental health support charity Mikeysline, one of Parklands’ charity partners.
It’s one of two events taking place this weekend, with Eilean Dubh care home in Fortrose care also supporting Parklands Pride.
Donald Morrison, Communications Director at Parklands Care Homes, said: “Parklands Pride is a chance to celebrate diversity in all its forms and to bring people from different backgrounds and life experiences together.
“The world can feel challenging for many, and we want our homes to send a clear message: everyone is welcome, and everyone is valued. We’re delighted to share that spirit of inclusivity with the wider community once again this year.”
The free event takes place this Saturday from 1pm to 5pm.
