Olympic cyclist Neah Evans will feature at Aberdeenshire Bike Blethers event
An Olympian will tell how she got to the pinnacle of cycling at an upcoming event.
As part of the Cycle Aberdeenshire programme, and fresh from another successful Olympics in Paris, north-east cyclist Neah Evans will be the star of Bike Blethers 2024 in early November.
The Bike Blethers format, which was first held ahead of the Tour of Britain in 2022 featuring Paralympic champions Neil and Lora Fachie, will see this year’s event feature Evans.
She is a World points champion, European champion, Commonwealth medallist and most recently won an Olympic silver medal in Paris. She will discuss her career to date and cycling as a whole.
Evans, a resident of Aberdeenshire, will also be supported by the Alba Development Road Team, the UCI Continental Level women’s professional cycling team which is also based in the region.
The combination will ensure a must see evening for those with an interest in cycling and beyond.
It will take place at Inverurie Community Campus on Saturday, November 2 from 7pm - 9pm and be hosted by DJ Lauren Mitchell, best known for her role on the Northsound 1 Breakfast Show.
Bike Blethers is taking place as part of the Cycle Aberdeenshire programme, which is the umbrella brand for cycling activity within Live Life Aberdeenshire as part of the local authority.
Councillor Anne Stirling, Deputy Leader of Aberdeenshire Council and chairwoman of the communities committee said: “I am thrilled to hear that Neah is bringing her story to a local audience whilst she is back home in Aberdeenshire next month.
“Her story is inspiring, from her veterinary career to trying the velodrome in Glasgow for the first time, and the amazing journey that has since followed to Commonwealth, European, World and Olympic success.
“I am sure that Bike Blethers, as it did in 2022 with Neil and Lora Fachie, will deliver a brilliant evening of stories and insights from Neah, accompanied by the superb addition of the Alba Development Road Team, another Aberdeenshire-based success story.”
Tickets for Bike Blethers can be purchased here.
The evening is being supported via the returning generosity of Mackie’s of Scotland, with free ice cream being provided to audience members during the interval and pupil support from Inverurie Academy’s drama department.
