Participants will promenade along the Colony Trail to encounter stories at the Gowk Stane, listen to musicians and hear tales of feast or famine at the Kailyard.

There will be four sessions throughout the day – starting at 11am, 11.30am, 12pm and 2pm.

Vice-chairwoman of the Bailies, Ann Bailie said: “We wanted to put on an event that would allow visitors to find out more about the folklore, history and music of Bennachie.

"We are delighted that Doric story teller, Jackie Ross, will be telling stories about the friendly giant Jock O’Bennachie.

"Many primary school children will be familiar with the giant and her tales from our fun and learning website www.juniorbailies.org.uk

“Music will be provided by Sarah Beattie and Charlie Abel who will be performing a muckle a sangs and a puckle a tunes at Cairn Couttie, just off the main track up to the Mither Tap.”

A guided tour will take visitors along the Colony Trail to the living history project of a 19th century kitchen garden or Kailyard where they will find out if life was a feast or famine for the people who built their homes there.

A display at the Bennachie Visitor’s Centre about the history of the colonists will give more information.

No charge will be made for this event but people should register by emailing publications@bailesofbennachie.co.uk and saying what time they would like to go and how many people will be attending.
