Lockdown restrictions have resulted in people spending more time in their own gardens, but many public gardens are blooming behind closed gates.

Ellon Castle Gardens is just one of these gardens which is flourishing with no opportunity to be admired, but the volunteers who have been working hard to bring the property back to life in recent years have come up with a solution.

On Saturday (May 30) members of the public will be able to see the blossoming garden - from the comfort of their own homes.

From 10am the volunteers will post a selection of pre-recorded video tours of the garden as well as snippets of interesting information to let 'visitors' see what Ellon Castle Gardens have to offer.

These will be available to view on the Ellon Castle Gardens Facebook page.

Volunteer Alison Craigon said: "Although Ellon Castle Gardens is currently closed due to lockdown, the flowers are putting on a wonderful show!

"We didn't want everyone to miss the beautiful bluebells and blossoms, so we have organised a virtual Bluebells And Blossoms event on Facebook.

"There will be pre-recorded video tours and information posted on our page throughout the day, to give viewers a taste of what the gardens have to offer."

In the run up to the event the Ellon Castle Garden volunteers with the assistance of Bella the fairy have been using social media to share teasers of some of the gardens' highlights.

Ellon Castle Gardens hope to re-open to the public as soon as possible.
