Elgin man broke into ex-girlfriend’s Forres home after six week relationship turned sinister
A six-week relationship turned sinister when it was ended and the spurned partner began sending menacing messages to the woman.
Blaine McKenzie then secretly entered his ex partner's Forres home while she was out by breaking a window and walking around.
But CCTV filmed him on the early morning of June 25 this year and police were able to identify and trace the 31-year-old.
McKenzie, of Bremner Drive, Elgin, had previously admitted at Inverness Sheriff Court charges of threatening behaviour and vandalism and sentence had been deferred for a background report.
Sheriff Gary Aitken had been told that McKenzie was in the relationship for just six weeks when the woman broke it off.
He took it badly and began sending her texts, calling her "heartless."
The court heard that another message saying he was taking a taxi to Forres to her home added: "I am not going to hit a female.”
However he said any male there was "f...ing dead" and he would "smash the place up”.
He then began calling his former girlfriend "a slut" and "you are f...ing dead”.
On July 8, the woman discovered £50 had been paid into her bank account by him stating "damage" although the cost of the damage was £200.
Defending, Robert Cruickshank told the Sheriff: "There was very little thought or planning.
“He is somebody who would benefit from supervision.
"He is planning to move to Aberdeen to stay with his mother.
“If he does not have the protective factor of his mother, he will need support.
“This was fuelled by the misuse of alcohol and prescription medication.
“It has been 18 months since the commission of these offences and he has not reoffended."
Sheriff Aitken placed McKenzie on 18 months of supervision, ordered him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and imposed a three year long non harassment order to protect his victim.
