This election will determine who represents the north-east at the most important juncture in our recent history as we work to create a post-Covid 19 world that is fair for all.

For the past five years I have worked hard to represent constituents, the greatest honour of my life.

If re-elected, I will work to secure high-skilled jobs in the area.

As the convener of the Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform I have worked tirelessly on the Climate Change Plan Update, COP26, the Environmental implications of the UK’s exit from the EU and the Green Recovery.

The Green Recovery offers us the opportunity to deliver a Just Transition to a sustainable future.

We must ensure those who work in oil and gas are not left behind; I know how important the sector and its workforce are to the north-east.

It is vital that the north-east remains an energy capital and retains highly-skilled jobs so I will continue to campaign for the support our workforce needs, for example ensuring that the £25 million Transition Training Fund that I lobbied for continues to enable oil and gas workers to transition in to other roles and upskill, and lobbying for support from government such as the £62 million energy transition fund.

The pandemic has hugely impacted the lives of the next generation.

It is crucial we build on SNP policies such as 1140 hour of free childcare, 100,000 more new affordable houses on top of over 96,000 delivered so far, the Baby Box and retaining free education to ensure our children and young adults have what they need to help them build their lives.

In the north-east more than 18,000 Baby Boxes have been delivered and more than 13,900 Modern Apprenticeships started.

We’ve invested millions in building new schools in Ellon, Inverurie and Turriff and if re-elected the SNP will deliver even more such as free digital devices for all school children.

Finally, we need to ensure that the people who live in Scotland can determine the future of Scotland.

Scotland did not vote for Brexit, nor this chaotic Tory UK Government.

In a democracy it is for the people to decide this nation’s future, therefore if re-elected I will work with my SNP colleagues to secure a referendum on Scottish independence.

I will continue to work for our economy, our next generation, and the ensure the people living in Scotland determine Scotland’s future.
