The count is taking place during the day, rather than overnight as usual, due to Covid-19 protocols.

There are also fewer count staff than usual, despite a much bigger hall than at Elgin Town Hall – where counts usually take place.

It is unknown when a result will be declared, with the possibility of it running over into tomorrow.

The constituency vote will be declared before the regional list. Full regional list results will not be known until at least tomorrow due to Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch beginning their count a day late.
