Residents in Rothienorman were woken on Sunday morning to the sounds of police sirens as a pursuit of a vehicle led the suspected vehicle through the village.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A vehicle failed to stop when signalled by officers in the Rothienorman area of Aberdeenshire around 7.15am on Sunday.

"The vehicle was subsequently lost to sight and enquiries are ongoing to trace the car and driver."

Local residents noted the incident in progress, with several police vehicles seen in and around the area in pursuit.
