A Turriff pre-school are feeling extremely disappointed after a popular outdoor learning space has fallen victim to vandals twice in less than 24 hours.

Turriff Pre-school Playgroup were alerted to the issue this morning (Tuesday) after a concerned resident informed staff that they had called the fire brigade to a small seating area used by the group in the Haughs.

Upon going down to investigate the damage, staff were met by firefighters who informed them that they had also been called to the area to extinguish a fire on Monday night.

A spokesperson for the group, which provides a range of learning opportunities for children aged between two and five, said: "This is very disappointing for playgroup as it is a great area for the children as well as providing unique outdoor learning opportunities.

"We ask that if you hear anything about who is responsible that you contact either ourselves or the police.

"This area is covered by CCTV, which we will look into.

"We do not want our children to miss out due to mindless vandalism"

Anybody with any information should call 101.
