Inverurie's Fly Cup Catering has welcomed a £4000 donation towards new catering equipment.

Aberdeen based Dolphin Drilling has pledged the money towards the purchase of a new bakery oven which will be used to support Fly Cup Catering’s trainee programme for adults with learning disabilities.

Dolphin Drilling, a harsh environment drilling contractor for the offshore oil and gas industry which operates a fleet of drilling rigs from offices worldwide, has selected Fly Cup Catering as its local charity for 2021 and has planned a series of fundraising efforts as well as hands-on volunteer support for the charity.

Fly Cup Catering - which provides training and employment opportunities to adults with learning disabilities in the catering and hospitality sector - has welcomed the support as it reveals organisational development plans.

Enhanced product and service offerings will see home deliveries, which started as a result of lockdown, become a frequent service offering, whilst plans are also underway to extend the organisation’s bakery ordering service via a new website and online ordering facility.

Trustee at Fly Cup Catering Fiona Allan said: “We are very grateful to Dolphin Drilling for their generous donation towards purchasing our new oven.

"We strive to provide our trainees with the most up to date industry training and experience, and access to modern catering equipment is important to support this.

"Demand for our products has increased due to the evolution of our offerings during the lockdown period, and now that our café has also reopened, our staff and trainees are looking forward to meeting this growing demand.

"The purchase of a new oven in the near future will certainly support this.”

Charity representative for Dolphin Drilling Lesley Allan said: “Dolphin Drilling has a long history in the north east of Scotland and we are passionate about giving back to the community and proud to be supporting local charity Fly Cup Catering this year.

"The newly renovated café looks fantastic, and we were delighted to be able to contribute £4,000 towards a new bakery oven as part of the overall development plans.

"The team at Dolphin and our charity committee are excited to kick start our fundraising activities to help support this important cause.”
