THE final touches are being put to the entries by eager competitors for this year's Deskford Flower Show.

Deskford Flower Show is set to bloom this Saturday.

This Saturday will see entrants from the local area and further afield battle it out for the silverware in a number of categories, including flowers, floral art, baking, vegetables and industrial. Given the difficult task of picking the winners in these sections will be, respectively, Bill Copeland jnr, Rina Slater, Alan McPherson, Ian Hepburn and Fiona Campbell.

Flower show committee secretary Maimie Mitchell said: "We're all really looking forward to the show and welcoming everyone along.

"I'm not sure how the wet summer is going to affect entries but we'll just have to see.

"We'll also be delighted to welcome along the fire service who will be doing CPR demonstrations during the afternoon."

Presenting the prizes at the end of the show is an honour which will fall to Fraser Duncan, who has an incredible 66 years of service with the committee under his belt.

The show will, sadly, be without one familiar face as Bill Copeland snr passed away earlier this year. Mr Copeland was well known for his entries of honey and claimed many a trophy down the years.

Judging takes place between 10am and 12 noon with the show open to the public from 2pm. The prizegiving is scheduled for 4.30pm.
