Cyclist being treated for serious head injury after crash involving lorry in Banff

Emergency services were called to Banff's Low Street on Friday afternoon after a cyclist was involved in a collision with a lorry.

A large number of police, ambulance and fire crews attended at the incident, which took place at about 2.20pm.

The male cyclist suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance for treatment.

Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance landed at the town's Canal Park and paramedics assisted at the scene, but the man was not airlifted.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 2.20pm on Friday, August 7, police received a report of a road crash involving a lorry and a cyclist on Low Street, Banff.

"The cyclist was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he is currently being treated for a serious head injury. Enquiries continue."

Police investigations were continuing at the scene on Friday evening.

A spokeswoman for the air ambulance said: "Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance attended and paramedics assisted at the scene but we did not airlift anyone."
