CROSSROADS Primary School is in the limelight at the Scottish Parliament after a pupil was announced as a competition winner.
The school's Katie Leith was recognised as one of 13 winners of a "calendar competition" run by Save Cash and Reduce Fuel (Scarf).
Aberdeen-based Scarf aims to eradicate fuel poverty, and runs an annual competition inviting children from primary schools in the north-east to draw pictures demonstrating how to be energy efficient and tackle fuel poverty. The competition is sponsored by Scottish Water.
Winners and their parents, from schools across Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Dundee City and Moray, were invited to the Parliament for the awards.
Deputy First Minister John Swinney presented the winners with their awards, before they were given a tour of Holyrood after lunch.
Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP Stewart Stevenson (SNP) hosted the awards ceremony in the Scottish parliament and congratulated Katie on her award.
He said: "Katie managed to create interesting, thought-provoking art. She has clearly put a lot of work into her submission and the calendar is lucky to have them.
"I would also like to congratulate all the young people who took part – their creativity, work ethic and awareness are the foundation for combating climate change and creating a world that’s more energy efficient.
"Well done to Scarf for hosting another great competition. They really are playing a key role in creating an energy aware culture among our young people. I’m glad they continue to inspire our young people and I wish them the best of luck for next year’s competition."
