A spokesman said: "We understand that people will want to enjoy their new freedom, but we urge the public to act responsibly when gathering outside or visiting beauty spots – not only for the safety of yourselves and others, but also for our beautiful countryside and coastline.

"With nice weather also expected this weekend, popular scenic areas across Aberdeenshire are likely to be busier than normal, and visitors should always have a ‘Plan B’ in mind if they discover that their intended destination is too busy.

"Please note that there will be limited capacity at Glen Muick and at Linn of Dee, and ‘No Entry’ signs will be displayed when car parks at these locations reach capacity.

"Road users are asked to respect the signage, follow advice and guidance from local Estate or Cairngorms National Park Authority Rangers and always park safely and with consideration for other road users, local residents or landowners.

"We encourage the public to remember the following -"

Plan ahead

Some hotspots could be busy and facilities such as car parks, shops and toilets may be closed or access reduced, so plan ahead before setting out – including checking relevant websites – and be prepared to move to your Plan B site if necessary.

Be responsible

Remember to follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and be responsible for your dog, especially around farmland and areas where there may be ground nesting birds. Take all your litter home with you and abide by the latest guidance on hygiene and physical distancing when meeting with other households outdoors.

Take it easy

Support our NHS, emergency services and rescue teams during this challenging time by avoiding riskier outings and always remember the FACTS.
