As of Tuesday April 6 Aberdeenshire Council will no longer be offering Tuesday evening opening hours at household recycling centres.

Aberdeenshire's waste sites will no longer be open on Tuesday evenings.
Aberdeenshire's waste sites will no longer be open on Tuesday evenings.

A spokesman explained: "This decision has come as part of our savings to the waste service revenue budget, which was agreed by full council on March 17.

"We have given this careful thought, and our analysis shows that Tuesday evening slots are the least used, with booking rates of less than 30 per cent across all centres."

Concerns have already been raised by residents over the council's new larger vehicle and trailer policy which further limits access to site with many already pointing to the increase in fly tipping in the north-east.

There are also increasing calls in many communities for the current slot booking system to be scrapped at smaller sites in Aberdeenshire.
