Coronavirus update: Shire cases rise as City levels see a sustained drop

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 1908 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 10.5 per cent of those tested overall.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 359 cases and NHS Lothian 345 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 192 cases (285 yesterday) while NHS Highland recorded 81 cases.

In the seven days to October 9, Aberdeenshire saw 1055 cases (404.6 per 100,000), Aberdeen City 624 (272.4 per 100,000) and Moray 336 (351.1 per 100,000).

The continued increase in cases in Aberdeenshire is being driven by case rises being seen in the Banff, Aberchirder, Inverurie, Stonehaven and Peterhead areas.

27 new deaths were recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland more than 4,265,755 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,866,372 people have received their second dose.
