Coronavirus update: Rise in Moray cases adds to north-east totals

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 2581 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 7.7 per cent of those tested overall.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 527 cases and NHS Lothian 411 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 282 cases while NHS Highland recorded 93 cases.

In the seven days to October 10, Aberdeenshire saw 1055 cases (404.6 per 100,000), Aberdeen City 609 (265.9 per 100,000) and Moray 339 (354.2 per 100,000).

The continued increase in cases in NHS Grampian is being driven by case rises being seen in the Banff, Aberchirder, Inverurie, Stonehaven and Peterhead areas in Aberdeenshire and around Buckie and Cullen in Moray.

30 new deaths were recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland more than 4,270,126 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,868,656 people have received their second dose.
