Coronavirus update: Picture continues to improve in the north-east

Scotland saw 400 positive cases in the last 24 hours an increase from the previous day's total of 542

This equated to 1.8 per cent of those tested (2.1 the previous day).

A total of eight new deaths were noted in the last 24 hours with Covid as a contributing factor.

The NHS Greater Glasgow area saw 120 cases (136) and Lanarkshire 67 (98).

NHS Grampian saw 35 cases (48) while NHS Highland saw three (4).

The NHS Grampian area recorded 239 cases in the last seven days taking the overall total to 14,409.

Public Health Scotland's most up to date figures cover the seven days between March 23 and March 29 and show Aberdeenshire recorded 79 (73) cases which equated to 1.2 per cent (1.1) of all tests carried out and a positive test rate of 30.2 per 100,000 population (27.9).

For the same time period, Aberdeen City saw 95 (102) cases equating to 1.6 per cent of all tests (1.7) and a positive test rate of 41.5 per 100,000 (44.6).

In the daily area figures case numbers show continue to show a low background level in most areas.

In Aberdeenshire, Stonehaven's recent rises have levelled off as have Speyside in Moray however there has been a rise again in the Portsoy area where there had previously been a cluster in recent weeks.
