In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 950 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 3.5 per cent of those tested overall.

In the last seven days NHS Greater Glasgow saw 218 cases, NHS Tayside 89 and NHS Lothian 212 .

NHS Grampian saw 65 new cases while NHS Highland recorded 25 new cases.

In the seven days to June 15 there were 72 new cases in Aberdeenshire (27.6 per 100,000), 242 in Aberdeen City (105.8 per 100,000) and 7 in Moray (7.3 per 100,000).

Two new deaths were recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland more than 3,591,638 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 2,535,800 people have received their second dose.

With the rise in cases in Aberdeen a mobile testing unit is being deployed in the Kincorth area to encourage people to get tested for Covid-19 on the south side of the city.

The unit will be based at Kincorth Library from Sunday June 20 to Friday June 25 and again from Sunday 27 to Friday July 2.

The unit will be open between 10 am and 5pm.

Shantini Paranjothy, consultant in Public Health with NHS Grampian, said: “The number of cases in the city continues to rise which is why it is important we all take action now to do everything we can to nip it in the bud.

"We all know that if everyone plays their part it can make a huge difference in containing the virus and help protect our friends, family and loved ones.

“One in three people with Covid-19 don't show any symptoms but they can still spread the virus – that’s why community testing is so important and why we are asking everyone to get tested.

"The mobile testing unit is open to anyone who lives, works or spends time in area so please, take up this chance to help keep our city safe.”
