Coronavirus update: NHS Grampian sees a continuing spike in Elgin cases

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 139 positive cases which equates to 1.1 per cent of those tested overall.

Taking in two days worth of data because of the bank holiday on Monday NHS Greater Glasgow saw 68 cases and NHS Lanarkshire 49 and NHS Lothian 43.

NHS Grampian reported 37 new cases while NHS Highland recorded eight cases.

In the seven days to May 1 there were 29 new cases in Aberdeenshire (11.1 per 100,000), 33 in Aberdeen City (14.4 per 100,000) and 75 in Moray (78.3 per 100,000).

Case numbers in Moray have doubled in the last week with the vast majority of cases firmly centred in Elgin.

No deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland over 2,833,761 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and over 1,348,050 people have received their second dose.
