Coronavirus update: Large upturn in NHS Grampian cases as national total spikes again

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 6836 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 10.8 per cent of those tested overall

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 1810 cases and NHS Lanarkshire 1007 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 586 cases (411 yesterday) while NHS Highland recorded 284 cases.

In the seven days to September 6, Aberdeenshire saw 1510 cases (579.0 per 100,000), Aberdeen City 1244 (543.1 per 100,000) and Moray 250 (261.2 per 100,000).

Oldmeldrum, Westhill, Turriff, Kintore, Peterhead, Insch and Inverurie between them have now recorded more cases in a week than in the entirety of Moray for the same time period.

12 new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland more than 4,133,606 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,757,337 people have received their second dose.
