Coronavirus update: Laboratory issue affecting case figures in NHS Grampian

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 2917 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 10.8 per cent of those tested overall.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 768 cases and NHS Lothian 393 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 248 cases while NHS Highland recorded 120 cases.

Public Health Scotland outlined that the NHS Grampian laboratory has not submitted files since Saturday and an investigation into this issue is ongoing.

In the seven days to September 17, Aberdeenshire saw 1278 cases (490.1 per 100,000), Aberdeen City 974 (425.2 per 100,000) and Moray 193 (201.7 per 100,000).

No new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Areas which are showing high number of cases include Blackburn; Peterhead; Garlogie and Elrick and Kintore.

To date in Scotland more than 4,157,613 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,810,775 people have received their second dose.
