Coronavirus update: Grampian sees a large increase in cases

Scotland recorded a total of 1246 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the last 24 hours which equated to 16.2 per cent of newly tested individuals.

There were six new reported deaths of people who have tested positive and again the largest number of cases were seen in the NHS Greater Glasgow area which recorded 440 cases.

NHS Lanarkshire was a further 306 cases and NHS Lothian 192.

In the north-east NHS Grampian recorded the largest number of cases for a considerable time with 68 positive results while NHS Highland saw 14.

Speaking at her daily briefing, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon clarified definitions which were causing issues for the hospitality trade, in particular the definition of a cafe versus a restaurant.
