Coronavirus update: Further upturn in NHS Grampian cases

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 3463 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 10.9 per cent of those tested overall.

This compares to 3613 in the previous 24 hours and 3367 the day before.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 1104 (1106 yesterday) cases and NHS Lothian 576 (630) cases.

NHS Grampian saw 174 (166) cases while NHS Highland recorded 191 (178) cases.

In the seven days to August 16 there were 382 new cases in Aberdeenshire (146.5 per 100,000), 332 in Aberdeen City (144.9 per 100,000) and in Moray 91 (95.1per 100,000).

Three new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Cases remain focused in and around Fraserburgh, remaining for the most part at a static level while Westhill/Elrick is the latest to see a considerable jump in positive test results.

To date in Scotland more than 4,075,555 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,541,708 people have received their second dose.
