Coronavirus update: First signs of cases falling in the north-east

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 5529 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 9.9 per cent of those tested overall.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 1467 cases and NHS Lothian 829 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 467 cases while NHS Highland recorded 236 cases.

In the seven days to September 14, Aberdeenshire saw 1442 cases (553.0 per 100,000), Aberdeen City 1074 (468.9 per 100,000) and Moray 220 (229.9 per 100,000) - these figures are now lagging further behind the NHS area statistics by an extra two days compared to their normal 48 hour gap.

Areas where cases had been high including Peterhead and Turriff have started to see sustained falls in case numbers, but others such as Blackburn and Banff has seen rises in recent days.

To date in Scotland more than 4,150,157 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,798,938 people have received their second dose.
