Coronavirus update: Cases continue to fall in the north-east

Scotland saw 259 positive cases in the last 24 hours which equated to 2.0 per cent of those tested.

No new deaths were noted in the last 24 hours with Covid as a contributing factor.

The NHS Greater Glasgow area saw 93 cases and Lanarkshire 32.

NHS Grampian saw nine cases while NHS Highland saw seven.

The NHS Grampian area recorded 172 cases in the last seven days taking the overall total to 14,497.

Public Health Scotland's most up to date figures cover the seven days between March 28 and April 3 and show Aberdeenshire recorded 70 cases which equated to 1.1 per cent of all tests carried out and a positive test rate of 26.8 per 100,000 population.

For the same time period, Aberdeen City saw 69 cases equating to 1.3 per cent of all tests and a positive test rate of 30.2 per 100,000.

In the daily area figures case numbers show continue to show improving fall off of rates with only the Ellon and Ythan areas showing above background levels.
