In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 12,602 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 25.1 per cent of those tested.

Area specific and health board figures are not available over weekends.

Public Health Scotland has also stopped the publication of daily totals of Omicron variants and break down by NHS Board.

Instead they have resorted to including this information in their weekly publication of statistics.

This means that Scotland as a whole does not have a publicly available figure for cases after January 4 when the decision was made (circa 21,000).

The next update is expected on January 11.

26 new deaths were recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland more than 4,390,076 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 4,041,550 people have received their second dose.

A further 3,082,231 have received a third dose or booster.
