Coronavirus update: Aberdeenshire continues to show decline in Covid-19 cases

Scotland saw a further fall in positive cases overnight as a total of 1429 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours compared to 1341 the previous day.

This equated to 12.3 per cent of those tested (9.5 the previous day).

The NHS Greater Glasgow area saw 451 (412) cases, Lanarkshire 244 (226) and Lothian 178 (123).

NHS Grampian also saw a decrease with 113 cases (131) as did NHS Highland with 21 cases (43).

The NHS Grampian area recorded 1039 cases in the last seven days taking the overall total to 11,254.

Public Health Scotland's most up to date figures cover the seven days between January 9 and January 15 show Aberdeenshire recorded 377 positive cases (down from 390 the previous day) which equated to 7.6 per cent of all tests carried out (down from 7.9 per cent) and a positive test rate per 100,000 population of 144.3 (down from 149.3).

For the same time period, Aberdeen City saw 551 cases (equal) equating to 10.4 per cent of all tests (down from 10.5) and positive test rate of 241.0 per 100,000 (equal).

In the daily area figures the sustained fall in cases was seen in most areas across Aberdeenshire with the exception of a small increase in the Ythanside area, with several areas nowback down to the baseline 0-2 case level and others such as Cromar where case numbers had been relatively high now showing a continued decline.
