Buckie coach firm Maynes eye triple trophy glory
A local coach firm have been unveiled as finalists in not one but three categories in the finals of a prestigious national awards programme.
Family-run Mayne’s Coaches, which is based in Buckie, will be eyeing up three trophies at the routeone Awards this November.
Not only have they reached the finals shortlist for Best Use of Technology - Coach Operator and Outstanding Customer Experience categories, Rebecca Mayne is in the running for the Rising Star trophy.
The nominations come hot on the heels of the firm forming part of an eight-strong group tasked with delivering 252 new zero-emission buses and coaches to Scotland’s roads.
The routeone Awards, the most esteemed awards programme in the UK coach and bus industry, has announced its 2024 finalists. Celebrating excellence across the industry since 2005, the 18th routeone Awards continues to recognise those operators and individuals who have driven innovation and success.
A total of 81 finalists have been selected across 15 categories, from exceptional managers and engineers to innovative use of technology and outstanding customer service.
To be considered for a routeone Award, candidates were first nominated by industry peers. Nominees then submitted entries that demonstrated how they met the category criteria. The judging process involved a panel of respected industry experts who meticulously reviewed each entry to curate a shortlist that exemplifies the highest standards of excellence.

This year’s judges are: Joan Aitken OBE, former Traffic Commissioner for Scotland; David Cattermole, former Managing Director of Galloway Travel; Richard Delahoy, Transport Consultant; Nigel Eggleton, former Managing Director with First Bus South Yorkshire and Midlands; Mark Fowles OBE, former Managing Director of Nottingham City Transport; Graham Russell, former senior executive with FirstGroup; and Norman Thomas, former Engineering Product Manager for Volvo Bus.
