Christmas Switch on events around Ellon, Turriff and Inverurie

It's the time of year everyone all looks forward to - seeing towns and cities across the country lit up with sparkling coloured lights for Christmas.

Christmas switch-on events are taking place over the coming days and weeks.

To ensure you don't miss the big event in your town we've put together a handy guide of the ones that are still to take place across Inverurie, Ellon and Turriff.

Turriff

Turriff's annual switch on takes place this Sunday (November 24) from 2pm until 6pm.

There will be various stalls, food and craft and afternoon entertainment.

Youngsters will get the chance to meet Santa in his Grotto.

The lights switch is at 4pm.

Alford

There annual Christmas Festival will take place this Sunday (November 24) from 12am till 4pm at the Grampian Transport Museum.

The parade with Santa and Reindeers to lights switch on is happen at 4pm.

Ellon

The Ellon Christmas Lights Switch On is taking part on Saturday, November 30 from 10.30am to 5pm at Riverside Carpark.

Parade starts at 4.40pm and fireworks at 5pm.

Daviot

Daviot Xmas Celebration and Fireworks will take place on Saturday, November 30 4pm to 6pm at Daviot Village hall.

A fun event for all ages.

Fyvie

Fyvie Christmas Lights are taking place on Saturday, November 30 at 6pm.

People assemble in the Forbes Leith Park for the switch on with carol singing and return to the Legion for mulled wine, mince pies and a bit of a party.

Monymusk

Monymusk's switch on takes place on Saturday, November 30 at 5.30pm for a 6pm start.

Banff

Banff's switch on takes place at River Church on Sunday, December 1 from 2pm until 4.15pm.

There is a packed entertainment schedule, catering, stalls and family activities.

Cuminestown

The Christmas lights switch on takes place at 3.15pm on Sunday, December 1.

Pitmedden

The Christmas lights switch is on Sunday, December 1 from 3.30pm until 4.30pm at Surgery Carpark.

Santa and his helpers will be there at the event.

A performance by Udny and Pitmedden Pantomime.

Hot food and drink by Daviot and Oldmeldrum Explorer Scouts.

As well as fundraising tables by Friends of Pitmedden School and Pitmedden Out of School Club.

Meldrum

The switch on will take place on Sunday, December 1 at Meldrum Square at 3pm by a mystery guest.

Entertainment will include the Kintore Pipe Band, young musicians from Meldrum Academy, Green Giant Tractor and much more.

There will complimentary mulled wine, hot mince pies, hot chocolate, juice and biscuits.

Balmedie

The Christmas lights on will take place on Sunday, December 1

Lights will be switched on whilst people sing Carol's around the Christmas tree followed by hot mince pies, tea and coffee inside the Kirk hall at 6pm.

Inverurie

This years Christmas Lights switch-on in Inverurie will take place on Sunday, December. 1

From 2pm until 6pm there will be live music, stalls, food and kiddies rides.

At 3.30pm there will be the St Andrews Parade with Pipe Bands and local youth Groups.

The Christmas Tree Switch On and Firework Display is at 5pm.

Rothie

The Rothienorman Christmas Lights Switch On is this Sunday (November 24) from 4.15pm until 4.30pm at the church.

There will be a BBQ from 2pm until 5.30pm when the fireworks will be set off.

Newburgh

The Christmas Lights Switch On is on Sunday, December 1 at 4pm outside Forven Parish Church.

Kintore

The switch-on will take place on Saturday, December 7 at 4pm in The Square, Kintore.

The new lights have been funded through fundraising by the Kintore Fundraising Team, who organise the lights every year.

Kintore Pipe Band will performing in their usual festive style!

Santa will be there to give all the children a treat and there will be a selection of food, drinks and mulled wine!

Kintore Parish Church will also be holding a Christmas sing-a-long from 4pm performed with Kemnay Academy concert band.

Mintlaw

The community carol singing event featuring the AuRora Choir is taking place on Sunday, December 1 at 3pm at the Public Hall.

Refreshments will be available afterwards.

Kemnay

The switch on will take place on Friday, November 29 at the village hall with doors open at 3.45pm.

At 4.45pm people will be led by a piper to the Village Green to turn the lights on.

Santa will be there at the event.
