Cullen community gather in force to welcome festive lights switch-on
A local town got the festive season swinging in grand style when the town’s Christmas lights were switched on.
A good crowd of young and old alike gathered in Cullen’s Millennium Square to witness young P7 pupil Austin from the local primary school do the honours and flick the switch to bring the displays into sparkling life.
It capped an evening of celebrations for all the family, with the festivities getting under way at 5.30pm in the Grand Ballroom of the Seafield Arms Hotel.
Santa and Mrs Claus were on hand to greet everyone while dispensing small treats while upstairs teas, coffees, mincemeat pies and shortbread awaited.
The hall was packed with stalls from local groups and kids from Cullen Primary’s Singing Group.
Signalling the run-up to the grand switch-on itself was a piper in the square.
The lights switch-on is by no means an end to the festive fun in Cullen, with Santa and Mrs Claus hitching their sleigh to a tractor on Sunday, December 15 before heading round town dishing out presents to youngsters of primary school age or younger. Their itinerary (all timings are approximate) is: Seatown wall - 4pm; Victoria Crescent - 4.30pm; Seafield Place - 4.52pm; Findlater Drive - 5.22pm; Judy’s Lane 5.57pm; Cullen Primary - 6.19pm; Cullen Square (finish) - 6.45pm.
