With more than £1000 raised, Charlie, along with his wife Sandra who also took part said: “I want to say thank you very, very much to everyone for your fantastic financial and moral support.

“We have met a lot of very nice people over the days.

“It has been an experience doing this walk, often pleasant but sometimes serious, however what has always made it worthwhile is the fantastic generosity from all of you for your donations.

“The money we have raised will go a long way to helping Home Start Garioch continue to support families.

“They along with many charities have seen a dramatic cut in income from cancelled fundraising events at a time when they have been working so hard supporting families accross Garioch and Formartine.”

Having completed his last walk on Friday, which took him to an overall climb taller than Mauna Kea – the tallest mountain in the world at 10210m-high – Charlie and Sandra set out for an encore on Sunday as part of the Kiltwalk that took place across Scotland.

They also revealed the final name chosen for the teddy bear that has accompanied them on thier trips and who will now be known as Alba.

Charlie said: “Alba had a great time with old and new friends and it all finished with a picnic at the end.

“Sandra had not planned on coming on the fundraising climb, but after coming the first couple of times for moral support, she made it her mission as well and for that I would like to say thank you.”
