Cavies and rabbits bring the cute factor back to first Turriff Show since 2019

THE cavy and rabbit sections at the Turriff Show brought everyone's favourite furry friends back for the first time since 2019.

With 124 rabbits and 97 cavies entered into the Turriff Show this year, competition was fierce among owners of the little creatures.

Taking the top cavy honour were A&A Pirie, who took the Champion Cavy prize for a cream adult.

The prize netted the winner a shield and a bottle of Teacher's whisky, along with the coveted ribbon.

Robert Murphy MBE won the Champion Rabbit honour, as well as Best Fancy, for a Netherland Dwarf rabbit.

The other top cavy and rabbit results were as follows:

Kirklee Cavies won Reserve Best Cavy with a slate cavy, which also took the five to eight months category.

Stuart Hindes won Best Juvenile with an Abysinnian, entered into the Abyssinian Tort and White, five to eight months category.

Diane Newlands took Best Rare Breed with an adult Swiss, the only entry of its breed.

Sarah Retson won Best Pet, for a cavy entered into the Pet Cavy owned by child eight years or younger category.

For rabbits, Sophie Callachan took home Best Junior and best Dutch for the only Dutch Black entry in the section.

Steven Davidson won Best in Show English and Best of Breed, for an entry in the English Black contest.

J W H Brown took Best Fancy and Reserve Best in Show with a Silver rabbit.

T and M McGruther won Best Junior and Best Mini Lop for a Sooty Fawn Mini Lop.

Hazel Weir, won Best Lop with her huge French Lop.

Jane Wallace took Best Fur Rabbit and Best of Breed for a Beveran Blue.

Scotrex won Best Rex and Reserve Best Rabbit in Show, for their adult Ermine.

Megan Davidson won best pet rabbit, for a rabbit entered into the Pet Rabbit owned by child nine to 16 years category.
