Delivered through the theme Shape the Future, the campaign is co-ordinated by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and highlights that great career support helps people find their passion and thrive.

Now in its fourth year, Scottish Careers Week has continued to grow, with activities and events set to take place in communities across the country.

Set against a backdrop of the ever-changing world of work, new technology and the need to develop the right skills, the campaign showcases partnerships helping people of all ages make positive education and career choices to shape their future.

Pupils in Aberdeenshire will be taking part in events in schools.

Those across the area can also get involved in national events taking place during the week.

This includes a free Zoom webinar for parents and carers on Tuesday, November 12 at 7pm called Helping Young People with Career Decisions and Next Steps.

A careers adviser will explain SDS support, including the My World of Work website and its resources for young people and parents. Register to attend through Eventbrite.

Other national online events include VirtRural Careers 2024 from Lantra, a virtual event with industry professionals working in Scotland's land-based, aquaculture, and environmental conservation sectors.

The Scottish Childminding Association will host online Discover Childminding sessions where people can explore a new career in the sector.

And the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists Voices for the Future session will offer insight into careers in speech and language therapy.

Anthony Standing, SDS head of operations in the north of Scotland, said: “As the national skills body delivering Scotland’s careers service in schools, in the community and online, we want people to know that career support through SDS is available year-round, across all communities and ages.

“Thanks to support from local employers, schools and organisations, there’s lots happening in the area and nationally during Scottish Careers Week to showcase exciting industries and opportunities and the help available to make the right career choices.”
